Getting Started with Simple Bookmarks

Simple Bookmarks for Jira lets you privately bookmark Jira issues with personal notes, tags, priority, and due dates. Your bookmarks are visible only to you and have no effect on shared project state.

Installation

  1. Go to the Atlassian Marketplace and search for Simple Bookmarks for Jira.
  2. Click Get it now.
  3. Select the Jira Cloud site where you want to install the app.
  4. Review the permissions and click Accept & install.
  5. Wait for the installation to complete — this typically takes less than a minute.

Once installed, the app is available immediately to all users on the site. No per-user setup is required.

Accessing the App

Simple Bookmarks appears in two places inside Jira:

Issue Sidebar Panel

Open any Jira issue. In the right-side panel section, find the Bookmark panel. If the issue has not been bookmarked yet, you will see a star icon and the message “This issue is not bookmarked.”

Bookmarks Dashboard

Click Apps in the Jira top navigation, then select Bookmarks. This opens a full-page table of all your personal bookmarks.

Create Your First Bookmark

  1. Open any Jira issue.
  2. Locate the Bookmark panel in the right sidebar.
  3. Click Add to Bookmarks.
  4. Fill in any combination of the following fields:
    • Note — your personal notes about the issue (up to 1,000 characters)
    • Tags — comma-separated labels, e.g. follow-up, needs-review
    • Priority — select High, Medium, or Low
    • Due Date — a private reminder date visible only to you
  5. Click Save.

The panel switches to the view state, displaying all saved fields. The issue is now bookmarked.
