Bookmarking Issues
The Bookmark panel appears in the right sidebar of every Jira issue. It has three distinct states depending on whether the issue is bookmarked and whether you are editing it.
From the Issue Sidebar
Panel States
| State | When it appears | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Empty state | Issue is not bookmarked | Star icon, “This issue is not bookmarked.”, and an Add to Bookmarks button |
| Form state | Creating a new bookmark or editing an existing one | Editable fields with Save and Cancel buttons |
| View state | Issue is bookmarked and not being edited | All fields read-only, with action buttons |
Adding a Bookmark
-

View State Actions
When an issue is bookmarked, the view state shows all saved fields and three action buttons:
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| Copy | Copies a Markdown-formatted summary of the bookmark to your clipboard |
| Edit | Opens the form state so you can update any field |
| Remove | Initiates the two-click deletion flow (see below) |
Editing a Bookmark
- Open the Jira issue.
- In the Bookmark panel, click Edit.
- Update any fields in the form.
- Click Save to apply changes, or Cancel to discard them.
Clicking Cancel returns to the view state without saving any changes.
Removing a Bookmark
Simple Bookmarks uses a two-click confirmation pattern to prevent accidental deletion.
- In the view state, click Remove.
- The button turns red and changes to Confirm?.
- Click Confirm? a second time to permanently delete the bookmark.
If you change your mind, click anywhere else on the page or wait 10 seconds. The button resets to its idle state and the bookmark is not deleted.
Note: Removing a bookmark deletes it permanently. There is no undo.
