Jira Watch Integration

Simple Bookmarks lets you toggle your native Jira watch status for any bookmarked issue without leaving the Bookmarks dashboard. This is the same watch status you would set by clicking Watch inside a Jira issue.

What is Watch Integration

Watching a Jira issue means you receive Jira’s standard notifications when that issue is updated (comments, status changes, field edits, and so on). Simple Bookmarks surfaces a watch toggle on each row of the dashboard so you can manage your subscriptions alongside your bookmarks.

Watch status is not unique to Simple Bookmarks — it is your Jira account-level watch status for that issue, visible to project administrators.

Toggling Watch Status

Each row in the Bookmarks dashboard displays a watch icon in the Watch column:

IconMeaning
Eye icon (colored)You are currently watching the issue
EyeOff icon (muted)You are not watching the issue

To toggle watch status:

  1. Find the bookmark row for the issue you want to update.
  2. Click the watch icon in the Watch column.
  3. A loading spinner replaces the icon briefly while the change is applied.
  4. A toast notification confirms the result:
    • “Now watching PROJ-123” when you start watching
    • “Stopped watching PROJ-123” when you stop watching

The icon updates to reflect the new state immediately after the API call completes.

Filtering by Watch Status

Use the Watch Status filter in the dashboard filter bar to show bookmarks based on your watch status:

OptionShows
AllAll bookmarks regardless of watch status
WatchingOnly bookmarks for issues you are currently watching
Not WatchingOnly bookmarks for issues you are not watching

This filter is useful for reviewing which bookmarked issues you are subscribed to or for finding bookmarks where you may want to start watching.

The Watch Status filter can be combined with the Priority and Due Date filters, and with the search bar, to narrow results further.
